There are many different ways to prepare and cook your garlic, it truly depends on what type of meal your are going to make. There are about four general ways to prepare your garlic. When you grab a head of garlic, you need to pull the cloves out of the bulb. The best way to do this, is by placing the palm of your hand on the crown of the bulb and with your weight, lean into the garlic head. This will break up the bulb and leave you with individual pieces called cloves. These little beauties contain so much flavor, they can really make a difference in your cooking. Go ahead and grab a kitchen cooking knife. With the flat side of the knife, and the blade pointed away from you, lay it on top of the clove. With one solid little tap with your hand, you should be able to crack that outer skin of the clove. The ends will be broken off and you can easily pull the clove out of the husk and the root that holds it. Now you will have a fresh clove of garlic. Now we have four different ways to prepare this little garlic clove:

Number 1:

Once you have a fresh clove of garlic, you can simply place it in the pot and roast or fry it. This will give you a subtle sweet flavor that can compliment a variety of tasty meals.

Number 3:

Grab your kitchen knife and cut your clove down the center. Finely chop your clove, the same as you would do for an onion. Keep the tip of the knife on the cutting board and use the base of the knife to go up and down the clove. Continue this until you have a pile of tiny finer pieces to throw into your pot.

With the palm of your hand, lean into the knife and squash the clove. Continue you to flatten it out as much as you can. Ad a bit of salt and with the flex in the knife, continue to squash it again and again. Scrape it up and continue squashing to give you a creamy puree.
